Gun Dog Training - On Hold - Trainer Needed

Our specialty is training pointing breeds for hunting and AKC Hunt Tests. We limit the number of dogs in training courses to ensure that all dogs receive the appropriate amount of training and attention. We also offer obedience training.

Private lessons run between 45 minutes and an hour depending on the dog's attention and focus.

Boarded Training: pups and dogs are trained daily. We encourage owner/handler participation for boarded pups and dogs. If possible, we would like to work with the owner/handler at least once a week.

Gun Dog Kindergarten - On Hold - Trainer Needed

For many dogs, it all begins with Gun Dog Kindergarten. The course is designed to introduce pups to the field, birds, the shotgun, and to hunt by nose instead of sight. Pups are boarded for 2-3 weeks. Different breeds develop at different rates and individual dogs’ development varies greatly. We will work with the owner to assess whether a pup is ready for this training. Objectives are:

  Natural prey drive sparked.

  Loves to find birds.

Associates shotgun and birds while having no fear of the shotgun report.

Follows basic commands in the field.

Gun Dog Camp - On Hold - Trainer Needed

This training course is for dogs 10 to 18 months old (depending on breed and the individual dog's development) who already meet the objectives of Gun Dog Kindergarten. Dogs are boarded for 6 to 12 weeks (depending on breed, prior training, progress of the dog, and the client's objectives). The objectives are variable depending on the breed and client preferences. General objectives are:

  Steady to point.

  Steady to wing.

  Steady to shot.

AKC Hunt Tests

Many of the dogs we train are tested in AKC Hunt Tests. These are a fun way for your dog to experience what your dog was bred to do. It’s also a great way to measure the progress of your dog’s training. Hunt tests are based on a standard, so your dog isn’t competing against other dogs. The people who attend these are fellow dog enthusiasts and most are very welcoming and helpful.
